When Windows crashes the user is prompted to send the details of the error to Microsoft. I always do, but it’s usually due to some third party program that isn’t playing nice.
Hackers develop malicious code intended to do harm to Windows machines. When hackers crash their machine while developing the code, they are prompted just like everyone else. And according to Microsoft senior security architect Rocky Heckman, many of them actually say yes.
“People have sent us their virus code when they’re trying to develop their virus and they keep crashing their systems,” Heckman said. “It’s amazing how much stuff we get.”
Heckman also said that on average Microsoft.com is attacked between 7000 to 9000 times per second.
Now that’s astounding.
